Thistle & Vine Federal Knot Embroidered Dishtowel
Details
The history of the Federal Knot motif dates back to the late-18th century. Potomac River Valley cabinetmaker John Shearer was well known for infusing his political sentiments into his work, featuring the symbol in many of his creations. The emblem was likely a reference to the new, rigidly ordered and hopelessly entangled Federal government of the time.
